Due to stringent new government controls on children’s services, the Ebenezer Children’s Home in the outskirts of Chennai has now closed. However the Ebenezer Child Day Care Centre continues to flourish in the grounds of the former children’s home.

The children are taught a little, including their numbers and some basic English. They play, dance and sing, have stories read to them and have a good meal at mid-day.

Ebenezer Child Care Centres with about 25 children in each one have been established in 9 villages. The children go there after school to continue their learning with help from a qualified teacher. The children receive a healthy snack and drink when they arrive. The Child Care Centre also helps the families with regular monthly provision of food and hygiene packs. In each Centre the children also learn to develop values which are foundational to their wellbeing
